Common traditions involve gift-giving, decorating Christmas trees, going to church, enjoying meals with loved ones, and, naturally, anticipating Santa Claus's visit.
This year, I created some popcorn garland. It was quite simple to make. I used approximately 1 cup of popcorn kernels and a Whirley Pop. After popping the corn, I placed it in a large bowl and watched a couple of Christmas movies. I threaded the popcorn together using a needlepoint needle and thread.
Be careful and take your time threading the needle through the popcorn to avoid breaking it.
I must admit that I enjoyed making it and will need to do it again next year. It's also very affordable.
Popcorn garland can be used to adorn a Christmas tree, provide food for animals outdoors, embellish a window, or hang on a banister or fireplace. The tradition of placing food on Christmas trees dates back many years and originates from Germany, where sliced apples were once used as decorations.
Stringing popcorn holds significant historical and cultural importance. It became a popular pastime in the 19th century, particularly during the Victorian era.
My husband and I have been using the same stocking for roughly 18 years now. Last year, I purchased one for Watcher but didn't add his name. The other night, I sat down and embroidered a "W" on it. It's not perfect, but it will suffice.
If you are considering doing this, you can write the name with a pencil or pen for guidance.
Nearly every year, we enjoy doing a Christmas puzzle, and this year is no exception. We are currently working on a beautiful reindeer adorned with colorful lights on its antlers.
For us, this time of year isn't focused on finding the best shopping deals. It's about cherishing moments with family and friends, enjoying delicious Christmas meals, and creating heartfelt handmade gifts.
